What is Red Light Therapy?

Red light therapy (RLT) uses low-level wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate your cells. It’s safe, non-invasive, and supports your body’s natural ability to repair and restore.

What Red Light Therapy Does

  1. Here’s the science in simple terms:

    • Red and near-infrared light (usually 600–1000 nanometers) can pass through the skin into your tissues.

    • Inside your cells are mitochondria, which act like tiny “power plants.”

    • Mitochondria contain a light-sensitive enzyme called cytochrome c oxidase.

    • When this enzyme absorbs red or near-infrared light, it becomes more efficient at its job — making ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the molecule your body uses for energy.

    • More ATP = more energy for cells to repair, regenerate, and function better.

    In short: red light directly activates your mitochondria, helping them produce more energy so your body can heal and feel better. Think of red light as charging your cells’ batteries.

What to Expect During a Session

  • Relax in a comfortable, relaxing environment — you may combine with sauna, yoga, or massage.

Safety & Precautions

Red Light Therapy is safe for most people. However, please consult your doctor or avoid RLT if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Have active cancer or tumors

  • Take photosensitizing medications (certain antibiotics, acne meds, antidepressants, etc.)

  • Have seizure disorders or severe light sensitivity

  • Have had recent steroid or cortisone injections

  • Have open wounds, bleeding, or recent surgery
